Right off of Memorial Drive in Cambridge is Bisuteki Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse, one of the few Teppanyaki Steak Houses in the Boston area. Teppanyaki is a japanese style of cooking that is done on a large solid metal cooking surface. (These restaurants are often referred to as Hibachi Steak Houses in the US, though Hibachi is another distinct style of Japanese cooking.)

For teppanyaki, Bisuteki Tokyo offers a lunch special and a normal dinner set menu. Both menus include soup, the main entree, and rice. The dinner menu includes a salad and larger meat portions but is significantly more expensive. For customers with kids, there's a special entree that comes with any adult dinner menu portion, though I did not get the specific details of this offer.

The food is okay, but not great. The house mushroom soup is a little oversalted but otherwise plain. The meats were okay, though they weren't cooked with any special sauces. The dipping sauces (ginger or mustard sauce) are tasty and add zing to the meats. I recommend upgrading to the fried rice.

Overall, Bisuteki Tokyo is a great place to try out--if not for the food, for the teppanyaki experience. The food is plain, but for the lunch prices, it's totally worth it.
