Whole Foods has a nice selection of premade desserts which vary from store to store. Though the Brookline whole foods in Audubon Circle has a much smaller bakery section, they still have a good selection. These mini cheesecakes from Pearl River Pastry Company are cute and tasty.
Pearl River Pastry Company is based in NY and uses fresh, local ingredients and simple recipes to create high quality products. These cheesecakes are made from rBGH-free cream cheese from the northeast. The mini cheesecakes are about 2" in diameter.
Both the Raspberry Swirl and New York cheesecakes were very good. It was very obvious that the bakery uses high quality ingredients, and the cheesecakes were fresh and light, though somewhat basic in flavor. However, the raspberry version did not have a very strong raspberry taste. Both are fairly classic cheesecakes--nothing super innovative or exciting.
Overall, I recommend these cheesecakes for a small dessert or as a snack. The quality is great and the prices are reasonable.
