Though the food is decent, it's not particularly exciting. If anything, the food is probably 100x better than the food at the nearby hospital cafeterias, though that is a pretty low bar. The food is very consistent, reflecting the skill of the kitchen staff. The sandwiches and burgers are fairly cheap, but the entrees are much more expensive. They also have a few beers on tap, including the hard-to-find Sam Adams Brick Red.

The large sitting area is really great for large groups, though the service is so hit or miss that you'll only want to book a lunch here if you have over 3 hours to kill. (The service is inexplicably slower during the day than in the evening). Some of the servers are really attentive and fast; others will disappear except to bring you your check. Often, during the week, there will only be a bartender and one waiter, which probably makes the service problem worse.
Overall, the Longwood Grille & Bar is a good place to have in the neighborhood. It's definitely a decent restaurant for the adjoining Inn @ Longwood Medical. I wouldn't recommend a trek out to Longwood to eat, but if you're in the area and don't want to wander too far, it's an okay choice.
